So, I've been having strange dreams lately.
I was talking to a friend of mine, the girl I'm doing the motorcycle stuff with, and she mentioned that someone had brought a bermese mountain puppy into her workplace the previous day.
And it struck me because a few nights a go I had a dream about my old bermese/lab cross, sparky.
Sparky ran away when I was in grade 1. We moved from a farm in rural M.R. to a little house in downtown Vancouver. He wasn't happy, he ran away twice, the second time we didn't get him back.
I was heartbroken. And honestly, whenever I saw a bermese anywhere, I'd take a good look, just in case.
So, anyway in the dream, I was walking down the alley behind my house and I passed this SUV, and this guy was helping his elderly bermese into the back, so I helped, and the dog started licking my hands and lickign my face. and the guy says, "wow, that's the most excited I've seen him in years." And we started talkign and it turned out that the dog was old and sick, and he was taking him to the vet to be put down, nd he got all teary eyed. So I said, "you know, he looks like he could be my old dog, Sparky." and the dog barked. And then I asked him when he got the dog and how and whatnot...
And so by the time we finished between the way the dog was licking me, and cuddling, and whining and responding to me when he got the dog and the corcumstances. IT was my dog, it was my baby. my Sparky.
And so I rode to the vet with them, holding him and talking about what had happened in the last 17 years and how much I had missed him and how I had looked everywhere and at every dog. And I got to be there with the owner who had owned him for more years than I had and we held onto him and onto each other as he was put to sleep.
And you know, it was a depressing dream, it was sad, and it still makes me want to cry to think about it... but it was therepeutic too. somehow. *
